High-Performance Enclosures For Dry Creek Rail Yard
B&R Enclosures collaborated with O’Donnell Griffin, Sinclair Knight Merz and TransAdelaide (now Adelaide Metro) to deliver a customised enclosure solution for the Dry Creek Rail Yard in South Australia. The project required a design that improved heat dissipation while increasing the IP rating to meet strict operational requirements.
To satisfy the specifications, B&R modified a prototype originally developed for another rail project. The design enhancements included doubling the enclosure width, incorporating sun shades, and providing front and rear access doors. The enclosures were manufactured from 304-grade stainless steel with a 2B finish for durability and corrosion resistance.
The resulting design was well received by both the contractor and the asset owner, leading to an order of 27 enclosures. The successful delivery not only met the project’s functional requirements but also provided B&R with increased exposure to rail operators and contractors, positioning the company for future opportunities in the rail sector.
