Robust Enclosures Delivered for Dampier Salt North Shore Project

B&R Enclosures supported Dampier Salt (H.I) at the North Shore salt mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia by supplying robust enclosures for a $50 million project involving new conveyors, stacker reclaimers, hoppers and associated equipment. The project was scheduled for completion within nine to twelve months by December 2004.

The application demanded enclosures capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions while meeting strict OH&S requirements, particularly for marshalling enclosures located near conveyor belts and inspection walkways. The customer also required fully fitted enclosures delivered on time and at a competitive price.

B&R supplied standard Pilbara SP enclosures, a modified “skinny” Pilbara version, and painted and modified Incline SR enclosures. The sloping roofs of the Pilbara SP and Incline SR designs reduced the hazard of dust build-up on top of the enclosures. Universal NI and Connector TE components were also incorporated. B&R’s Western Australian value-add team managed much of the fit-out, working alongside Moeller, using B&R’s painted stainless steel and zinc-coated enclosures.

The project was completed on schedule and to specification, meeting the expectations of both the consultant and end user while delivering a durable, safe and fit-for-purpose solution.
