Enhancing Reliability in Sydney’s CBD Early Warning System

The Early Warning System in Sydney’s CBD is a public-address network designed to deliver critical messages to the community quickly and reliably.

The original speaker units were housed in plastic enclosures with hardwired peripheral connections, making maintenance and replacement difficult. Improving system reliability and simplifying unit changeovers were key objectives for the upgrade.

By introducing a customised Universal NI stainless-steel enclosure, all peripheral wiring was converted to plug-and-socket connections, and a dedicated internal shelf was added for more efficient equipment organisation.

Through close collaboration with the customer, B&R delivered a solution that met all project requirements. Since the installation of the new enclosures, system reliability has significantly improved, with no instances of moisture damage to the electronics.
