Brockman 4 Iron Ore Mine
B&R Enclosures worked closely with JA Martin Electrical on the construction of a transportable train loader control room for the BHP-owned Brockman 4 iron ore mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. A key challenge involved installing a large 2100 mm x 800 mm x 800 mm iLINQ communications enclosure when the only access point was a standard personnel door.
In earlier projects, JA Martin needed to delay finishing works, remove a large glazing panel and bring the enclosure in through a 4 metre by 2 metre window. This process required extra labour, temporary weatherproofing and extended installation time.
With iLINQ, this was no longer necessary. The system’s modular design allowed the enclosure to be disassembled into manageable components, carried through the personnel door and reassembled, installed and wired directly on site. This added only about an hour to installation while enabling JA Martin to fully complete the control room to lock-up stage in their workshop before moving it to the holding yard for final fit-out.
According to Dallas Fletcher, General Manager of JA Martin Electrical, iLINQ offered the most efficient and cost-effective solution to a long-standing installation challenge. With minimal components and precise reassembly, the enclosure integrated cleanly into the control room and aligned perfectly once installed.
