Certified Solutions for the Ichthys Gas Field
Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific (AG&P) is a global leader in modular engineering for the oil and gas, mining, power and infrastructure sectors. When appointed to design and construct the onshore and offshore modules for the Ichthys Gas Field, Australia’s largest hydrocarbon discovery in four decades, AG&P required certified, robust and project-specific electrical enclosure solutions.
Operating from two major fabrication yards in Batangas, Philippines, AG&P scales its workforce from 300 engineers and technicians to more than 10,000 during peak activity. For a project of this magnitude, AG&P and INPEX engaged B&R early to provide technical guidance and fully customised electrical enclosures.
B&R supplied a comprehensive suite of solutions including distribution boards, instrumentation enclosures, marshalling panels, junction boxes, local control stations, and power and lighting boards. These were engineered using a combination of IECEx-certified and industrial IP66 enclosures, manufactured from glass-reinforced plastic and 316 stainless steel to meet INPEX’s stringent specifications. All equipment was supplied complete with value-add integration and installed components.
To ensure standards compliance and optimal configuration, B&R conducted multiple site visits to AG&P’s project locations and fabrication facilities. Working from the project’s overarching specifications, B&R advised on local electrical standards, enclosure selection and the most efficient layout for housing electrical equipment within the modules. Factory acceptance testing was performed both at B&R’s manufacturing facilities and at AG&P’s site.
B&R’s ability to design and manufacture a broad range of engineered solutions to global standards has helped establish a strong, long-term partnership with AG&P, who have been B&R’s largest international client since 2014. Both companies continue to collaborate on major opportunities across Bangladesh, Oman and wider Middle Eastern markets.
